On Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang visited STNM Hospital this evening and met those who were injured in the massive avalanche that hit the Gangtok-Nathu La JNM Road at around 11.10 am this morning.
Out of twenty victims of the avalanche brought to STNM Hospital, seven persons have succumbed while 13 are injured.
Nine persons among the injured have been discharged as per STNM report.
It may be mentioned that 350 stranded tourists and 80 vehicles were rescued after snow clearance from road by the Army, State Disaster Management Team and Police.
During his visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary, Shri V.B. Pathak, Health Secretary,Shri Tsewang Gyachho,Medical Superintendent of STNM,Shri KB Gurung,DC Gangtok,Shri Tushar Nikhare,SP Gangtok,Shri Tenzing Loden Lepcha and other concerned officials.
