The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has announced new office timings for government offices in the state during the summer months.
From May 2 to July 15, government offices will operate from 7.30am to 2pm, with the aim of saving electricity and ensuring efficiency.
The Chief Minister claims that this decision is the first of its kind in India and could save the peak load of 300MW to 350MW during the summer. Employees will have ample time to spend with their families, while also providing timely services for those who visit their offices.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that many foreign countries change their office timings by one hour every six months to save on power and utilise sunlight more efficiently. The current office timing is 9 AM to 5 PM.
