Sikkim’s Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), has thrown down the gauntlet to his critics regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged dilution of Sikkim Subject, which has been raised by opposition parties and other critics. Speaking at an event in Gangtok on the occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar, Golay challenged anyone who does not possess either a Sikkim Subject or a Certificate of Identification (Domicile), but who enjoys only the privilege of Income Tax Exemption, to take the exam for the position of Assistant Director (IT – Information Technology) under the Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) on May 6, 2023. He warned that if such a person were to be selected for the position of AD (IT), he and all his legislators would resign.
Golay urged people not to be swayed by false propaganda and baseless rumors spread by anti-social elements who are claiming that the Sikkim Subject has been diluted.
