As of Friday, April 14th, 2023, India has reported 11,109 new cases of COVID-19, marking the highest daily infection count in 236 days. The total number of active cases has risen to 49,622, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. Additionally, 29 deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 5,31,064.

Of the 29 deaths, three were reported in Delhi and Rajasthan, two each in Chhattisgarh and Punjab, and one each in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Kerala also reported nine reconciled deaths.

The daily positivity rate is 5.01%, and the weekly positivity rate is 4.29%. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India stands at 4,47,97,269, with active cases comprising only 0.11% of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate is at 98.70%, and 4,42,16,586 people have recovered from the disease. The case fatality rate is 1.19%.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, India has administered 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine to date, according to the ministry’s website.
