Pakyong, March 25th(IPR): An Exhibition cum Charity Cricket match was organised today by Sikkim Cricket Association(SICA)in collaboration with the Government of Sikkim, at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo. The charity match was dedicated to Child Care Institute Bojoghari Children’s Home.
The day witnessed two matches played between SICA XI vs CS XI & SICA XI vs MLA XI.
The first game was between SICA XI and CS XI, with the Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, leading SICA and the Chief Secretary Shri V.B. PATHAK leading CS XI, where SICA XI defeated CS XI to win.
Also to mention that Shri. Prem Singh Tamang served as the Sikkim Cricket Association’s previous president. (SICA)
Later on, the pivotal game was contested between SICA XI and MLA XI, led by Mr. L. B Das, and was once more won by Sikkim Cricket Association.
Taking the programme forward, LED Television was gifted by the Chief Minister to Bojoghari Children Home, Special School for Children with Disabilities, Syari, Mayalmu Sangh, Half Way Home, DPH and Old Age Home, Ranipool.
From the team’s cash reward, a sum of 20,000 rupees each was given to a total of 28 Sikkim Care Associations.
Concluding the tournament, Manila Pradhan, the first woman from Sikkim to scale the ‘new’ designated height of Mt. Everest at 8,848.86 metres and ‘Sikkim Ratna’ Awardee, Miss Indu Subedi, Social Worker, President of Inspire Humanity Foundation Sikkim, Pema Sherpa, Sikkim Police, Sandhya Gurung, Dronacharya Awardee, National Women’s Coach, Boxing and Mrs Anuradha Chettri, State Assistant Coach in the field of football for Women were felicitated with awards and mementoes.
Eventually, a charitable donation of 1 lakh rupees from the exhibition match was made to DC Pakyong to help any Association in need.
