Gangtok, March 16(IPR): Chief Election Commissioner Mr Rajiv Kumar announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections today. The polls will be held in 7 phases, beginning from April 19 and ending on June 1. The results will be declared on June 4.

The assembly polls for Sikkim will be on April 19, Arunachal Pradesh on April 19, Odisha will be held on May 13 and Andhra Pradesh will be on May 13.
The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force with the announcement of polling dates today.

The Election Commission Of India through its Press Note. ECI/PN/23/2024 dated 16.03.2024 has announced the schedule for the General Election to the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly of Sikkim, 2024.
The schedule for the elections is as follows :

1. Announcement & Issue of Press Note : 16.03.2024 (Saturday)
2. Issue of Notification : 20.03.2024 (Wednesday)
3. Last Date for filing Nomination : 27.03.2024 (Wednesday)
4. Scrutiny of Nominations : 28.03.2024 (Thursday)
5. Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidature : 30.03.2024 (Saturday)
6. Date of Poll : 19 April 2024 (Friday)
7. Date of Counting Votes : 4.06.2024 (Tuesday)
8. Date before which election shall be completed : 06.06.2024 (Thursday)

Consequent on the announcement of the Schedule for the General Elections to the Lok Sabha and Sikkim Legislative Assembly, 2024 the Model Code of Conduct MCC comes into operation with the immediate effect from the 16.03.2024 and will be in force till the completion of the elections. The Model Code of Conduct MCC will be applicable to all the Political Parties , Candidates and to the Union and State Government.
