Singtam, April 7 : In a shocking incident that has sent ripples across the quiet locality, a man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Dochum under Sirwani in Sigtamon Monday.
According to police sources, a local resident informed authorities after discovering the victim lying motionless inside his house with multiple injuries on his body. A written FIR was immediately registered at Singtam Police Station.
When officers reached the spot, they found the body lying on a bed with grievous injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had reportedly been involved in a physical altercation with his wife just a day earlier. The couple was living alone at the residence.
During the course of the probe, police detained the wife of the deceased and another man from the same area. Investigators said that during questioning, both suspects allegedly confessed to committing the murder by strangling the victim with a nylon rope.
The two accused were taken to District Hospital Singtam for medical examination. The woman was admitted to the emergency ward for observation.
Forensic experts from the State Forensic Science Laboratory, including fingerprint specialists and a crime scene photographer, thoroughly examined the spot. An inquest was also conducted in the presence of independent witnesses.
The body has been preserved at the mortuary of District Hospital Singtam awaiting post-mortem examination. Police confirmed that all legal formalities have been completed, and further investigation into the case is underway.
