A young woman from a remote village in Sikkim has completed her aeronautical engineering degree and is now happy because she wants to become a pilot. Unfortunately, she was unable to pursue her dream due to financial constraints.

In the past, she had approached then CM Pawan Chamling for help but was unsuccessful. However, recently she was awarded a financial grant of Rs 50,00,000 (Rupees Fifty Lakh) from the Chief Minister’s discretionary fund, specifically for educational purposes, which has finally made her dream come true.

During the distribution of Chief Minister Discretionary Grants (CMDG) programme at Manan Kendra, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) spoke about the young woman, Miss Chunu Rai, who is the daughter of a power line-man.

It is almost impossible for a government employee working as a line-man to save Rs 50 lakh in order to send their daughter for pilot training, but under CMDG, Miss Rai has been awarded the necessary amount to pursue her goal of becoming a pilot.
