The villagers of JN Road at 17th Mile near Tsomgo, where a major avalanche occurred, have played a significant role in exhibiting humanity. On the second day of the search and rescue operation, a team comprising the Indian Army, BRO ‘Karmayogis’, Sikkim Police, tourism stakeholders (including the Driver Association), locals, Tourism Department staff, and volunteers were pressed in since morning.

While all the rescuers were contributing their best to the mission, the JN Road villagers and shop owners also showed their support by offering food, tea, and snacks to more than 300 people engaged in the search and rescue operation. The JN Road villagers are associated with the tourism industry as they are also stakeholders of the Sikkim Tourism Industry.
