IT Dept Extends Deadline For Pan-Aadhar Linking Until 30 June 2023

The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar until 30 June 2023, providing the much-needed respite to the nation’s tens of thousands of Pan Card holders.

“The date for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to 30 June 2023 in order to give taxpayers more time. This means that people can tell the designated authority about their Aadhaar for Aadhaar-PAN linking without being penalized.” Notice with this impact is being given independently,” said a Personal Duty Round.

Every person who has a PAN as of July 1, 2017, and is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar Number, is required to submit his Aadhaar to the appropriate authority on or before March 31, 2023, upon payment of a prescribed fee, in accordance with the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (the “Act”). Failure to do so will result in certain Act-related penalties beginning April 1, 2023. The deadline to notify the designated authority about Aadhaar in order to link PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to June 30, 2023.

The Income Tax Department stated last year that if a PAN and Aadhaar were not linked by March 31, a penalty of up to Rs 1,000 could be imposed; However, this type of PAN would be able to be used for filing ITRs, requesting refunds, and other I-T procedures for one more year, until March 2023.

According to the Income Tax Department, taxpayers whose personal identification numbers (PANs) do not match their Aadhaar will no longer be able to use them as of July 1, 2023, and the following consequences will occur during that time:

1. These PANs shall not be eligible for reimbursement;

2. For as long as the PAN is inactive, interest will not be charged on this refund; According to the Act, TDS and TCS will be collected at a higher rate.

3. After paying a fee of Rs.1,000 and providing Aadhaar to the appropriate authority, the PAN can be reinstated within 30 days.
“Those who have been exempted from linking their PAN and Aadhaar will not be subject to the aforementioned consequences. This class remembers those living for indicated States, a non-occupant according to the Demonstration, a person who isn’t a resident of India or people of the age of eighty years or more whenever during the earlier year,” it added.

“It is stated that more than 51 crore PANs have already been linked with Aadhaar till date. PAN can be linked with Aadhaar by accessing the following link https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/pre-login/bl-link-aadhaar, ” IT department said.
