Nintendo has released 10 minutes of gameplay footage from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the Kingdom will launch as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, perhaps one of the year’s most-anticipated games. The Japanese giant is slowly building momentum around the high-profile title, which is coming to the Switch on May 12.
The company on Tuesday held a virtual-styled Direct event where it showed 10 minutes of new gameplay and the first look at the game in action. The footage, which was narrated by series producer Eiji Aonuma, gave a preview of Link’s new abilities in detail “There are lots of ways to reach the Sky Islands, so we hope you’ll try a few different methods,” Aonuma says.
Recall, Fuse, Ultrahand, and Ascend are abilities that affect both fighting and traversal. Nintendo has not provided much details regarding the game’s narrative. The sequel to Breath of the Wild, according to the creator of Mario, would be “an epic adventure throughout the land and skies of Hyrule.”
It will cost $70 for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, making it the first title from the studio to sell for more above $60. Nintendo president Doug Bowser confirmed that not every first-party title will cost $70 at launch during an interview with the Associated Press.
Nintendo unveiled a limited-edition Switch model with a Zelda theme in conjunction with the big unveiling for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Beautiful golden runes on a white background decorate the Switch dock, echoing the design on Link’s Hero’s Shield. The game’s theme colors, gold and green, are likewise combined in the console. The limited-edition console will cost $360 at retail and be available without the game. Nintendo also intends to market a new controller and carrying case with a Zelda theme.
