The Indian government has blocked the official Twitter handle of the Pakistani government, @GovtofPakistan. Currently, the page is “withheld” by Twitter and a message on the page states that the account has been blocked in response to a “legal demand.”
Pakistan’s government Twitter handle has been blocked in India for the second time in the last six months. There has been no official statement from either Twitter or the Indian government regarding the blockage.
The page currently displays a message saying that the account has been withheld in India in response to a legal demand. It is not yet clear what the legal demand is or who issued it. Neither Twitter nor the Indian government has made any public statement about the blocking of the account. The blocking of the Pakistan government’s Twitter handle is likely to further strain the already tense relationship between India and Pakistan.
