NIT Sikkim organized a two days long workshop to promote the initiative taken by the government of India under the banner of “International year of Millets-2023” from 26th to 27th March 2023 which was concluded on Monday.
The two days long workshop witnessed events like Presentation on various topics related to development, history and the uses of millets in which the first position was achieved by Miss Hetshree Rathod.

Quiz competition harnessed the zeal of the students to exhibit their knowledge about various kinds of Millets and the various cuisines they played a role in, in which the first position was again won by Miss Hetshree Rathod, the Second position was secured by Mr. Debajit Chattarjee.

There was cooking demonstration and a Talk session which was navigated by The Millet Man of Andhra Pradesh, Shri K.V Rama Subba Reddy which inspired the students to bring innovation and novelty in their works which was later displayed through the medium of a Culinary competition. The two days long workshop was made more vibrant by an energetic Speech competition called “ShabdBaan” where the students spoke their opinions about the Millets and the promotion of them.

The workshop was concluded by an inspiring speech of the Director, Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, who assured that the Institute will be continuing the use of the Millets, and will keep on encouraging the students to learn more and more about the significance of Millets, the Director also expressed his appreciation towards the enthusiasm of the students for keenly participating in all the events and has also expressed his hearty gratitude to the guest for being the source of inspiration for the students.
