The Gangtok Sadar Police has claimed to have made significant progress in the case of the 11-year-old girl who was found dead in her school uniform in the Pangthang jungle a few days ago. Within 72 hours of the incident, the police claim to have obtained critical information that led to the detention of a suspect who has reportedly confessed to the crime.
The Gangtok District Superintendent of Police (SP) IPS Tenzing Loden Lepcha and his team are expected to make a major announcement regarding the detained person on Tuesday. The incident had caused widespread outrage and demands for the immediate arrest of the culprit responsible for the brutal murder of the young girl.
On April 10, the 11-year-old girl had gone missing while wearing her school uniform from the School premise. Her body was discovered in the Pangthang jungle near Gangtok on April 15. The swift action taken by the police in this case will hopefully bring justice to the victim and her family.
