Gangtok, 22 March : Bhaichung Bhutia, president of the Hamro Sikkim Party HSP, takes a strong stance against the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party over the rise in state violence.
Today, Bhutia gave a speech at the capital’s Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum SPYF peace rally. He slammed the SKM ruling party and Sikkim Police, advising officers to perform their duties diligently rather than the political party machinery. In his address to the rally, Bhutia challenges the government to break his head first rather than the heads of innocent people.
“Peaceful Sikkim has taken the image as the most violent state in these past two years. If we do not stop this politics of violence, assaults and stone pelting now, tomorrow these leaders will start using guns to save their chairs and to earn money,” said Bhutia.
Meanwhile two prominent heavyweights of HSP namely Neeknor Pradhan and Tara Prasad Bhattarai have tendered resignation to the HSP President alleging ‘Idealogy Indifference’ and undemocratic functioning of party president Bhaichung Bhutia.
