Gangtok, April 14 (IPR): The Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, graced the 132nd State Level celebration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as the Chief Guest here at the premises of Sikkim Legislative Assembly today.
At the beginning of the programme, Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang was felicitated by All Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Association (ASSCWA) representatives.
The event held today had the presence of Speaker SLA, Shri Arun Upreti, Deputy Speaker SLA, Shri Sangay Lepcha, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, MP Lok Sabha, Shri Indra Hang Subba, Political Secretary to HCM, Shri Jacob Khaling, Chairperson, Advisors, Local & Rural Urban bodies, Secretary Social Welfare Department, Shri A.B. Karki, concerned Govt officials, students and others.
The celebration continued with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by the offering of floral tribute to the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R Ambedkar by the Chief Minister, Shri. Prem Singh Tamang and other dignitaries.
A magazine about the Schedule Caste (SC) Community, “Bhim Chetana”, was released by Hon’ble Chief Minister.
School toppers belonging to SC Community were felicitated during the programme. Their names are as follows:
1. Miss Simran Darjee (Class X from Deorali Girls School).
2. Miss Subarna Darjee (Class XII from West Point School).
Likewise, other noteworthy achievers to be felicitated for their remarkable accomplishments are:
1. Health Sector- Shri Ashok Kumar Sunam.
2. Sports Sector- Shri Manoj Kami.
3. Social Activist- Shri J.M. Malle.
4. PHD in Microbiology- Smt. Bhumika Poudyali
The Chief Minister, Shri. Prem Singh Tamang extended warm greetings on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Birthday celebration. In his address, he thanked the Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, MPs and all the other dignitaries for their gracious presence. He also extended warm greetings on the occasion of the Nepali new year.
Hon’ble Chief Minister mentioned that the anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is celebrated each year to honour his dedication to the nation. He emphasized that every individual should take Dr.Ambedkar’s exemplary contribution to shun inequality in our society. One should inculcate his ideology to establish an equal society, he added.
Speaking about the importance of work culture, he said that Government employees need to deliver their professional service efficiently and work for the benefit of the State at large rather than only focusing on self-interests.
Similarly, the Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang ensured that the rights granted to the State under Article 371F and protected by Indian Constitution can never be tampered with or violated.
President, ASSCWA, Shri. Bikash Sunam thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister for providing continuous support and cooperation to ensure every form of development in the State. He also shed light on various schemes initiated by the State Govt to bring employment in various sectors. In concluding remarks, he placed a memorandum documented by All Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Association to the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
