Pakyong, March 24 (IPR): The A’ Division Men’s Tournament 2023 was effectively wrapped up by the Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), with the final game taking place today at Rangpo’s Sikkim Cricket Ground.
The Chief Minister- Shri Prem Singh Tamang graced the event as the chief guest for the championship game.
Also present during the tournament Minister Sports & Youth Affairs- Mr Kunga Nima Lepcha, Minister Tourism & Civil Aviation and IPR Department- Mr B.S Panth, Minister Women & Child Development- Mr Sanjeet Kharel, Minister UDD- Mr LB Das, Minister Road & Bridges- Mr Samdup Lepcha, Sports & Youth Affairs, Secretary- Mr Raju Basnet, DC Pakyong- Mr Tashi Chophel, SP Pakyong-Mr Karma Gyamtso, Sikkim Football Association, President- Mr Menla Ethanpa, SDM Rangpo-Ms Sujata Subba along with officials from various department.
Eight teams competed in the event, which got underway on March 5th, 2023. Pakyong Eleven XI and Alpine Sporting Club, two teams that had displayed exceptional talent and tenacity throughout the competition, squared off in the championship game. Both teams played with great enthusiasm, and the game was a wonderful example of teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Alpine Sporting Club, who put on a strong display and prevailed, won the game.

The best-wicket keeper of the match – Mr Arun Chettri, Alpine Sporting Club
The highest Scorer of the final – Mr Om Saini Pakyong XI
It is to be mentioned that Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) was formed on 5th May 1987 under the Leadership of Mr Jasbir Singh and Mr N. K. Pradhan, with the primary objective of promoting, encouraging and improving the standard of cricket in Sikkim. Presently, there are around 30 Cricket clubs in Sikkim.
