Gangtok, June 25 : A new political outfit, Sikkim United Front (SUF) was formally launched in a function held at a local hotel here in Ranipool today.
The office bearers of the party include- President- Narendra Adhikari; Vice President- Peter Tamang Ashish Rai, Kumar Karnal, M.K. Chettri, Kunga Tashi Lepcha; General Secretary- Ramesh Khanal, M. Pradhan, Kumari Limboo; Treasurer- Raj Tamang.
Speaking on the occasion, SUF President Narendra Adhikari expressed that the objective of SUF is to bring about qualitative change with fundamental shift in the way politics is practiced in the state.
Adhikari stated that the present ruling government has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the Sikkimese people and asserted that the need to fight the current system and bring about qualitative change to the present political approach was what led to the formation of the SUF party.
He further added that SUF will work at the grassroot level and will always stand for the rights and betterment of the people and the society.
The event also saw the unveiling of the tri colour party flag comprising of colours yellow, white and red.
“The colour Yellow signifies Struggle & Revolution while White stands for Peace & Unity and Red denotes Progress & Prosperity,” informed the party functionaries.
The event also had the presence of former Sikkim Chief Secretary Sonam Wangdi as Chief Guest, SNPP Chief Coordinator Delay Namgyal Kazi, N.K. Subba as Special Guests and a host of other dignitaries and local supporters.
