Protest against rising crime against women in Sikkim

13 Mar, Gayzing : There has been uncalled surge record of rising crime against women in the once a peaceful tiny Himalayan state Sikkim. There is no single week that goes blank without any report of crime against woman in the state nowadays. There are also unreported cases which don’t come in the public or media,¬†some cases are even compromised is alleged. The level of crime against women if goes trending then it could bring a shame for the state in national crime index.

SPYF in collaboration with SGC Gyalshing organised a protest march against the unprecedented rise in crimes against women and particularly in protest of the recent three sex molestation cases in Sikkim within a consecutive week.

The march started from Gyalshing Girls senior secondary school and it ended at Gyalshing bazar today. Students from SGC Gyalshing, Girls senior secondary school, ITI college, DIET and citizens and youth of Gyalshing participated in it. The participants of the rally demanded
1.Exemplary punishment for the culprits of the recent rape cases
2.A serious analysis of the root cause of atrocities against women and initiation actions from the government to stop such incidents immediately.
The rally ended with the addresses by the student and youth leaders of participating students.
