12 Mar, Gangtok (IPR) : The workshop on ” Preservation, Promotion and Further enrichment of Tribal Culture Tradition and Heritage of Sikkim” Organised by Tribal Research Institute, Social Justice Empowerment and Welfare Department, GoS concluded today at the Conference Hall of SJE&WD, Gangtok.
The five days workshop included the aspects of protecting and promoting all the cultural diaspora of Sikkim.
Shri. K. R. Rama Mohan, Head, Dept. Of Anthropology, Sikkim University who was the chairperson for today’s event spoke on the various mechanisms implementd by the Government of Sikkim. He acknowledged the Chief Minister’s keen interest in safeguarding the State’s cultural heritage with an effort to make Sikkim a cultural hub.
Shri. Rinzino Lepcha, Resource person spoke on the various natural treasures of Sikkim whilst encouraging the audience to understand its value and protect it for future generations. He also pointed out the various issues related to Sikkim which threatens the natural and cultural aspects of the Sikkimese populus. However, he also addressed the gathering on steps to safeguard them.
The workshop was attended by students of Sikkim University, Paljor Namgyal School and Sai Gurukul along with their Teachers who actively participated in the discussions.
