‘The Silk Route Ride 2016’ concludes at MG Marg

29 Sep, Gangtok (IPR) : The Silk Route Ride 2016 concluded with a grand closing ceremony at MG Marg here in the capital this afternoon.

The bike ride which was organized for the promotion of Old Silk Route by Aritar Dalapchand Lampokhari Development Society (ADLDS) and supported by Sikkim Riders Club.

Area MLA (20-Chujachen constituency)-cum-Chief Whip Mr. Bikram Pradhan had led the team comprising of more than 70 riders with the motive to rediscover the glory of Old Silk Route.

Amidst band display the riders were received at MG Marg this afternoon by the Minister for Roads and Bridges Mr. GM Gurung in special presence of Health Minister Mr. A. K. Ghatani, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Sonam Dadul Bhutia, Mr. Pintso Chopel Lepcha and host of other dignitaries.

The Chief Guest Mr. G.M Gurung extended his best wishes and congratulated the bikers. and also appreciated the endeavors made by ADLDS, whihc he said will motivate others to adopt such youth centric medium to preserve and promote tourism in the state of Sikkim.

In his address Mr. Bikram Pradhan threw lights on the objective and purpose of the event and stated that the  programme was organized to promote tourism potential of the state as envisioned by the Chief Minister.

 He also highlighted the historic significance of silk route along with its remarkable role in conducting trade between Europe and China in the early days.

Earlier Secretary eminent writer Mr. Sankar Deo Dhakal spoke on the historic importance of old Silk route via Reshi/Rongli.

The riders along with other participants were also felicitated during the function by the chief guest.

The closing ceremony was neatly punctuated by colourful cultural show.
