Now ‘Jionet’ High Speed Wi-Fi Service at MG Marg
12 Feb, Gangtok : Gangtok, one of the most beautiful tourist destination in India, becomes the first hill station in the North East to usher in digital services for natives and tourists today, with the launch of ‘Jionet’ High Speed Wi-Fi service at MG Marg provided by Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Jio). The network was inaugurated by Shri Pinsto Chopel Lepcha – Honourable Secretary of UD&HD, at a function organised at MG Marg.

From today, people visiting MG Marg will be able to use internet through ‘Jionet’ WiFi network. Currently, Jio is providing this service as complimentary so that visitors can sample and experience High Speed internet.
Commenting on the occasion, a Reliance Jio spokesperson said, “MG Road is the Town Centre & most popular market place in Gangtok and is synonymous with the splendid beauty of the hill city. We are privileged to offer Jionet services to people along this stretch of open mall & boulevard square, where locals and tourists take leisure stroll. This is yet another small step in the direction of Jio’s intent to bridge the digital divide by enriching life of every common man through its products and services. This project has been made possible because of joint endeavours of local governing authorities to provide world-class amenities to its citizens and Jio’s vision to empower every common man through its Digital Life.
