14 SDF party members expelled

Ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party today made a unanimous decision by expelling 13 members from the party after a rigorous meeting. The party forwarded the lists of members to whom the party has termed expulsion after scrutinizing their anti-party activities. The press release reads that 14 members are shortlisted and are found guilty under the rules of party preamble. The expelled members are also withdrawn from their position as well as primary tasks within the party which applies from today itself, reads press release.

Santosh Nirash appointed goodwill ambassador of SSACS

Giving a novel standpoint in reaching the common masses with the message of HIV/AIDS awareness, 81-year-old journalist Santosh Nirash was today appointed as the goodwill ambassador of Sikkim State Aids Control Society.
During her one year tenure, Mrs Nirash will help promote AIDS awareness across the State.

Singtam businessman arrest for alleged tax evasion attempt

A hardware businessman in Singtam has been arrested by police after he allegedly tried to evade commercial taxes on a cement supply order.
Sources informed that a joint team of Singtam police and Commercial Tax Division, Gangtok had conducted a raid at the shop of Sunil Agarwal today morning where 250 bags of cement were being unloaded from a truck, SK03-1007.
The team found out that the cement consignment was supposed to be delivered to one TB Subba of Machong, it is informed.

Rs. 3 lakhs self-employment loan per youth under CMSES

After the education loan bonanza for meritorious students, the State Government is now offering soft employment loans to the unemployed youth up to Rs. 3 lakhs per individual under Chief Minister’s Self Employment Scheme (CMSES).
Sikkim Subject Certificate or Certificate of Identification holders and their descendants in the age group of 22 to 35 years who have passed Class X and are unemployed are eligible for the loans under CMSES.
