19 May, Gangtok : A report of murder of Sikkim Manipal University SMU engineering student Rakshit Singh Meena studying 2nd year has baffled the state early morning today. The student is a son of Deputy Inspector General DIG of Bihar hailing from Purnia. According to source the deceased was declared dead today at CRH Tadong where he was taken. In this connection five person are arrested named Gurmey Wangchuk (35), Vidhan Pradhan (32), Loden Sherpa (32) of Darjeeling, Sonam Namgyal (31) and Ugen Namgyal (21) as told by Suptd Police East Sikkim Manoj Tiwari to media. Police said that the other SMIT students were threatned with Khukuri by the accused , they managed to flee but the deceased was several beaten to death.
Capital Sadar Police have registered the case against under section 302/ 201/34 of Indian Penal Code.
