SKM to inaugurate District Party office in Namchi on May Day

28 April, Namchi : Coinciding with the May Day Celebration to be observed on May 1, 2013, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) would also inaugurate their District Party Office here in Namchi on the same day. This would be followed by ‘Jan Sabha’ which will be held at Veterinary Ground, Singithang Namchi preceded by foot rally from the newly inaugurated District Party Office which would end at the venue of ‘Jan Sabha’ in Singithang. The ‘Jan Sabha’ it is informed will be attended by people from various corners of South District. Keeping in tune with the programme to be held on May 1, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has been conducting interaction and meeting in various places of South District. On April 22, 2013 public interaction cum meeting was conducted at Turuk at the residence of one Rajesh Tamang, the interaction cum meeting was done with SKM representative Sahadew Gurung of Namchi and his close aides. After this meeting 16 individuals joined the SKM party namely, Rajesh Tamang, Subas Pradhan, Ashok Tamang, Palden Bhutia, Sujan Tamang, Tenzing Tamang, Manoj Rai, Prakash Tamang, Diwash Bhujel, Andrew Lepcha, Khusbu Pradhan, Suman Bhujel, Giden Bhujel, Nima Tamang, Phurba Tamang and Krishna Prasad Bhujel. Similarly, on April 26, 2013 public interaction cum meeting was conducted in different villages under Melli Constituency. The meeting was conducted in Sumbuk, Lungchok, Mungram, Shyamdas Ward, 4th Mile and 6th Mile, here too the public interaction cum meeting was carried out by Sahadew Gurung representative of SKM party of Namchi along with lady Vice Convener of SKM South branch Sanjukta Rai and also attended by close aides. After the meeting 15 individuals joined the SKM party namely, Anos Tamang, Deo Kumar Mangar, Deepak Rai, Sakuntala Rai, Bhanu Lakhandri, Marcus Rai, Michael Pradhan, Jada Tamang, Rakesh Rai, Sunita Rai, NJ Sherpa, Sangeeta Subba, Samikcha Darjee, Tularam Lakhandri and Chandrakala Darjee. During the course of interaction with the SKM representatives, these people shared their grievances with them; the people of Sumbuk said that in the year 2004 the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling had promised them that the secondary school of the area would be upgraded to senior secondary level but till date the people informed that the school up gradation has not taken place. On the other hand the people of Lungchok informed the SKM representatives that in the case of free electricity supply to BPL families/ households, the concerned linemen of the area himself collect the cash for every unit of electricity used after 12 units of free electricity supply. In this case, the household which has been paying the linemen is not provided with any kind of receipt or electricity bill. The people of Mungram while sharing their grievances with the SKM representatives said that they are facing drinking water crises/shortage due to which they are not able to carry their agricultural works and cultivation which is their basic task, as they are already suffering from water crises and that carrying agricultural works is a distant dream for them. The SKM representatives further informed that they would carry on with their interaction programme and meeting with the people in the days to come.
