11 Nov,Mangan: On the occassion of Birth anniverssary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad the first education minister of the Nation was observed as National Education Day, awareness on Right to Education ACT, at Mangan district.
The programme started with rally carried up from MSSS school via Mangan bazaar up to Zilla bhawan participated by students of MSSS, Officers & staff of HRDD(SSA), MNP Councilor, PK Malu, teachers and SMC members.
At Zilla bhawan the programme started with welcome speech by Jt.Director, HRDD, S Dadul. Then lighting of lamp by Chief guest, Zilla Adhyaksha(N), K Lepcha & guest of Honour, DM(N), TN Kazi and after that the programme was followed by read out message of Prime minister by Jt.Director, HRDD, message read out of Education minister of India by Dy.Director, RN Singh and BRC Coordinator, Ongmu Bhutia read out the message of Chief minister of Sikkim.
Asst.Director, YN Dulal parted information on Right to Education ACT, which was launched on August 26th 2009 by Govt.of India. RTE rule covers children aged from 6yrs to 14yrs and upto class VIII standards. Not compulsary to submit admission fees, birth certificate, no screening test & transfer certificate for admission. If any teachers found guilty then they will charged panelty of Rs.25,000. And students cant be expelled from school, teachers should complete the syllabus within 1000 hours of schooling period. And students should also be obedient & punctual was informed.
On the occassion the Cultural department, Gangtok presented NED theme play.
DM North in his address said that, today is two very important occassion, the birth Anniversary of first Education minister of India and the day with tripple 11 which repeats after every hundred years. So the RTE ACT has to be followed well.
Chief Guert in his address informed that, according to total literacy programme education is very important factor for the development of the State in every sphere with Government education policy.
