Essential Commodities distributed at Toong Naga GPU
10 Oct,Mangan: The Naga Earthquake relief which was running from September 18th midnight at Multi Purpose play ground where the people were provided shelter, medicine & food and essential commodities for the affected people of Toong-Naga GPU of North District and the people plying from Chungthang, Saffo, Shipgyer, Lachen, Lachung, Thangu, Damang, Ramom & Chungthang. The initiative was taken up under supervision of Panchayat Secretary, Dorjee Tak Lepcha, SDF Party President North District, NT Lepcha, Health Department (PHSC), JAT Cadre Army regiment, Panchayat members of the area & local gentries. And this relief camp was the first entry point for all affected people of Earthquake and the people of the area shown a very effective role for supporting & concilling for people and from there the people were sent to Mangan Bazaar relief camp for plying towards other parts of the States.
Yesterday on October 9th, the World Vision India an International based NGO staff, Pradipta kr Barik & Ja A Campo, distributed essential commodities for the affected people of Toong- Naga GPU. Total 295 affected people were provided 25kgs of rice, 3kgs musur dal, 3kgs soyabean, 2kgs mustard oil, 2kgs sugar, 2kg salt, 1kg tea leaf to each family. And the Otsuka chemical (India), Pvt.Ltd.Delhi, Trasnlator cum Chemist, Sanu Tamang provided (Pacari Sweat) glucose water to every affected people of the area in presence of GPU Panchayats. And the affected people of the area are very thankful to the NGOs, BBF NGO, State Government, the Distt.Administration and Area MLA for the kind support.
Total 23 NGOs group is working in North District for relief, ECOSS, VHAS, WWF, Sai Samiti Sikkim, SBFP(JICA Project Team), SLYA, Sikkim University, All India Lepcha Literary Dev.Organization, Task Force team, Sikkim Doctors Association, Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology & Sikkim Legal Aids Association of Gangtok, KCC OF Yuksom, ATREE & Tashiding Welfare Association of West Sikkim, Passingdang Society & MLAS of Dzongu, Upper Singhik Samaj, NYK Govt.of India & Sikkim Youth of Mangan and World Vision India of Delhi, National Child Care Organization & Doctors team from Mountaineering Groups of Kolkatta.
The ward Panchayats of Sakyong-Pentong GPU informed that after 20 days of Earthquake affect not a single staff of Esclestical Department of the State Government has visited or inspected the Tholung Gumpa which is an historical & heritage place of the Sikkim State. Though the Police Department staff is performing duties at Tholung Gumpa from October 20th. So the State Government authorities should act immediate to preserve the historical preserved ornaments & garments of the said Gumpa.
