30 Sep,Gangtok: Meerung relief Camp visited by NDMRF, New Delhi. 16 Households were taking shelter there and 26 patients were examined, 1 injury case was treated at STNM Hospital and other systematic diseases were reported with no diarrhea case. IEC given and 4000 halogen tablets were distributed.
Palzor stadium 18 families were taking shelter and no diarrhea case was reported. IEC given and 4000 halogen tablets were distributed.
Lumsey Jr High School, 100 people were taking shelter in which 8 people were suffering from diarrhea and 37 were suffering from various ailments, they were treated and given medicine. IEC given and halogen tablets were distributed.
In SPWD camp 214 people were taking shelter out of which there was no diarrhea case reported. IEC given and 5000 halogen tablets were distributed.
A team of 5(five) senior doctors from National Institute of Communicable Disease, New Delhi and All Indian Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Kolkata visited North District w.e.f. 24/9/2011 to 29/9/2011
They visited Mangan, Chungthang, Dzongu and Phodong to evaluate any epidemic, educate general public regarding safe drinking water and food hygiene.
They distributed 90,000 tablets of Halogen tablets for making drinking water safe.
The team demonstrated the use of Chloroscope, which is designed to measure chlorine content of safe drinking water (residual chlorine).
The team has been deployed to cover East, South and West District for similar preventive activities w.e.f. 30/9/2011.
Two team of doctors and paramedics are visiting all the relief camps at and around Gangtok under the overall charge of Dr. L. Doma, Mission Director (NRHM). Similar visits are being undertaken by District Health Authorities to cover all relief camps.
Two Psychiatrists from NIMHANS Bangalore accompanied by Dr Bhusan Dahal, M.D. (Psychiatrisc) of STNM Hospital has been sent to Mangan for counseling earthquake affected persons. Three Psychiatrist (NIMHANS) has been stationed at STNM Hospital.
The multi sectoral Central Government team led by Mr. S. Singh to assess damage caused by earthquake was taken round District Hospital Mangan, Singtam and Health Secretariat for assessing damage caused to Health infrastructure on 27th and 28th September, 2011.
Two doctors each have been sent to Lachung and Lachen to provide medicines and medi care to local inhabitants.
