30 Sep,Mangan: A total of 90 houses suffered damages in Chungthang by the earthquake of 18th September out of which 30 houses suffered with major damages. As per the preliminery report of the BDO, Chungthang 22 houses suffered damages in Bop ward under Chungthang GPUout of which five houses suffered with major damages. Similarly, the badly affected ward of Pegong where 35 houses suffered with major damages. The Theng and Chorten wards which falls under same GPU also suffered with 28 houses at Theng and 18 houses at Chorten. The Chungthang Monastery and Shipgyer Monastery also suffered with major damages. Also in the list of damages are the Animal Husbandry Office, SDM office quarter, Gurudwara, Mandir, piggery farm, PHC quarter VLO Office, and Chungthang Secondary School along with its hostel building. The Shipgyer GPU also suffered with 140 houses damages with 69 major damages. Almost all the shops at Chungthang are closed and the market is empty as the residents of the Chungthang have been spending their night at School ground and Gurudwara in a relief camp.A total of 195 injured earthquake patients have been treated in Chungthang PHC.
