Lions Club of Rangpo hosts a Marathon on occasion of World Peace Day | Chief Guest Ugeyn Gyatso Awarding Trophies & Certificates to winners & Competitors
14 Sep, Rangpo: Lions CLub of Rangpo, the most happening international social organisation has continuously been hosting a series of activities across the state since decade. Today in an auspicious World Peace Day, Lions Club hosted a Open Marathon Race Competition in which several students belonging to many schools, government & private around the area participated in the event. The Roundup Marathon Race was flagged off from Rangpo Tourism Office to Kumrek Picnic Spot. In the boys category Master Rajen Pradan, a student of Mining Secondary School grasped a 1st position covering the distance of 6 Kms within 26 minutes, Raj Kumar Rai stood 2nd and Tshering Sherpa stood 3rd duo are from Chanatar Junior High School respectively. In girls category Kalpana Chettri of Majhitar Junior High School raced 1st position, Sonu Bhujel of Chanatar Junior High School stood 2nd followed by Karuna Rai of Majhitar Junior High School stood 3rd respectively. The programme was bestowed as a Chief Gust by Chief Whip of State Govt Ugyen Gyatso in presence of Club Secretary Bikash Kumar Prasad. The winners were awarded with trophies and several competitors were felicitated with certificates by the Chief Guest. During the event Lion Chabilal Sharma presented the briefing about the Club’s agendas and targets which are accomplished successfully. The programme was officially supported by Alkem Limited, Indichem health Pvt Ltd,bazar Contractor Bal Bdr Sarkee,Sikkim Taxi Jeep Driver Association Rangpo, Contractor Kamlesh Agarwal and Businessman Swami Prasad etc. The Chief Guest Ugyen Gyasto expressed his satisfaction on Lions Club’s success and hard work in bringing up such a unified event for peace process of state. The state of Sikkim has passed on the message of peace & brotherhood with this event being hosted in such a grand manner, said Chief Guest to the gatherings.
