12 Sep,Gangtok: The state government has set a big foot in providing a better housing benefits for the poor Sikkimese people. Under the ambitious Chief Minister Rural Housing Mission (CMRHM) government has been rapidly identifying and allotting a housing schemes to the downtrodden beneficiaries around the state. Government has all set to accomplish a mission to eradicate ‘Kaccha’ houses by 2013 in which 6000 state’s ‘Kuccha’ houses of poor Sikkimese families will be replaced by ‘Pukka’ Houses.In the presently a scheme a 4 rooms house in 602 Sq feet land is being constructed. In yet another decision, state government has turned on to replace the steel roof houses under the scheme to RCC; the RCC houses will have additional room for kitchen, bathroom and toilet.
Government has made a special provision of RCC houses for the poor families such that the RCC building can be extended later to second floor if applicable in the coming period under the follow-up scheme. According to source the construction of RCC house will be devised according to the geographical survey, requirements & testing’s . There shall not be any compromises in a quality, and durability of the houses which will be handed to the poor rural Sikkimese people after completion. Furthermore the government has directed that people who have a Sikkim subject but no proper dwelling land to be awarded housing scheme under pilot scheme at earliest. The process of allotment of orders for the construction of RCC houses are being discharged at earliest, said in the report.
For the ease, the improvised land bank scheme can also be availed by the landless Sikkim Subject holder for the construction of RCC house. The initiative of SDF government has enabled the CMRHM scheme to flourish to the remotest corner of the state ensuring that not a single beneficiary is uncategorised while dispensing the orders. For the same purpose government has strictly instructed the responsible authorities from Department, MLAs, Panchayats, NGOs, Social help group, Intellectuals of the society to be very precise and vigilant during the construction of houses for the poor. Government is said to have emphasising more to impart a training to the various officials in this scheme so as to ensure that proper developmental activities gets endorsed to poor people without facing any troubles on quality.
