12 Sep,Tashiding: Nowadays, the people of Tashiding-Yuksom constituency in West Sikkim are facing a serious breach to their lives & livestock’s bearing to the negligence of Power Department which seems unbothered about its power supply lines running hap hazardously in many places. People have been reporting a several occasions where current carrying wires are seen dangled over the tree carelessly; amazingly the concerned authorities do not pay a heed attention to such blissful things. Bearing the fact that the villagers have to feed their livestock’s with fodders from tree as such several people have witnessed current leakages while cutting a grass.
On 11 Sep at Middle Chongrong, a farmer Bishnu Lal Sharma while cutting a fodder from tree for a cattle was badly electrocuted by a current, due immediate reflexes from the people in surrounding he was rescued, now a victim is admitted at Central referral Hospital at Tadong.
Shocking thing erupts that even after a repeated complaints being lodged by the fellow villagers the department stood numb without doing anything for insanely laying the wires in the surrounding areas neither did the concerned officiating people cared to chop down the twigs of trees where live wires touched the trees or properly adjusted the wires dangling in many places unevenly.
In the case of Sharma, however as formality course of action the department officials immediately chopped down some of the endangered trees to avoid any leakages of current but according to the scared villagers these are just a eye wash and nothing more. Furthermore villagers alleges that even after such incident the department will simply flay in day or two as such problem will continue to persist.
