28 March, Gangtok: The most awaited historical Film on Sikkim will be projected for the first time officially on 04 April at capital cine hall. The film is directed by Satyajit Ray almost 40 years back on request of then His Majesty Chogyal palden Thondup Namgyal. The information was released during a press meet here at the capital by Sikkim Art and Culture Managing Trustee Ugyen Chopel, Karma Thakapa and Secretary Atul Kaur.The celluloid film which was a directed by Ray was in demanded ever since it was lost in time without its prints being come in front of world. The lost flims were recreated by US Academy of Motion Pictures after 8 years of hard work in its reproduction. The said film proprietorship is owned by Sikkim Art and Culture legally. Ugyen Chopel said to media that on 4 April the film would be premiered legally and in official ground. During the premier show Governor BP Singh will be present along with several dignitaries associated during the regime of Chogyal, students will also participate in the grand show where they will learn the history of Sikkim. It is further told that Prince Baichung Namgyal he himself had handed the ownership of the film to the trust, trust has worked all day long to restore the film to its original form.
Selecting a special day 4 April which is also Chogyal’s birthday film will be documented at capital’s renowned cine hall Vajra at 5:30 PM. It is further told that some bollywood fames will also participate in the occasion like Tinu Anand, Shanaz Anand, and Cinematographer Sumendu Ray. Similarly this film will be projected in international flim festival world across, said Ugyen Chopel. ‘Especially students will learn more about Sikkim’s history from this film which is our primary goal, said Chopel to media.

    On the auspicious occasion of the 58th Birthday of His Royal Majesty, the 13th Miwang Denjong Chogyal Chenpo Wangchuk Tenzing Namgyal who was born on this day in 1953 to the Late Chogyal Palden Thondub Namgyal and the late Lhayum Kushyo Sangye Deki, a simple function was organized to celebrate the same by this Organization at Gangtok. The function was presided over by its President Mr. Sonam Kaleon and attended by most of its district delegates.
    The function started with the offering of Tashi Gyepa Monlam and a long life prayer for His Royal Majesty the Chogyal. Initially, the members offered Tashi Jedhar at the Portrait of His Majesty the Chogyal. The members present appreciated the present responsibilities that His Majesty is undertaking and requested him to come back to Sikkim to resume his dharma responsibilities from here.
