Fake currency busted by Sikkim Police
11 March, Rangpo: Today seemed to be a praise worthy day of Sikkim Police at Rangpo branch where they have resolved to unveil two sensitive cases. This second case of fake currency busted by the Sikkim police at Rangpo branch came into limelight when a liquor retailer Mr Suresh Prasad of Mangan in North Sikkim had sent a consignment to two drivers for shipment of Liquor goods from Rangpo Liquor Depot. Having handed the amount to the depot cashier, the cashier found that 95 numbers of Rs 500 denomination out of which 18 numbers of Rs 500 notes were counterfeit. Having suspected that something is wrong the cashier immediately informed the police authority to intervene into the matter. Police through their channel intercepted the culprit Suresh Prasad located at Mangan and were successful in arresting him along with two others. The trio according to police source are cramped section 498 IPC. Shortly after the arrest was made this correspondent contacted the retailer over the phone to enquiry but the culprit denied any hand into such a blunder crime, he told that notes could have arrived to him during the daily business transaction. He said that he has nothing to do fake currency.
