08 Mar, Gangtok: In the major breakthrough behind the investigation by the Sikkim Police over Saturday Night open fire on 21 years old Penjor Dorjee Bhutia, an astonishing fact has revealed which has aroused severity of the case. On 05 March outside Escape Disco at Vajra a person aged 44 years Tempa Lhendup Lachenpa with his .32 mm pistol had fired on a Penjor Dorjee Bhutia.The police have revealed to the media that the arm was not renewed with the authority since past 10 months after the date of expiry, police states that the pistol’s license was expired in June 2010 itself.
DIG (Range) Sridhar Rao said that the pistol license was awarded to the alleged person in June 04, 2003 under the Arms Act. The alleged person had applied for the license of arm for the self protection; said DIGS Section 21 of Arms Act firmly states that when the license of arm gets expired it has to be handed to the authority under moral ground. It is learnt that in the State of Sikkim there are 1433 arms license holders, arms mainly comprise of pistols like single barrel bridge loading, double Barrel Bridge loading, single and double muzzle loadings.
With the failure of renewing the arm license even after 10 months after expiry by the alleged owner and possession, police has told to media that charged under Arms Act could be cramped upon the shooter, Tempa Lhendup Lachenpa.
In the other hand with Penjor’s health condition has shown no significant improvement till now who is admitted to Manipal in ICU. “We will take him to Delhi tomorrow as we do not want to take a chance “, said his father Passang Dorjee to the media.
