HPI students unrolls strike against fee hike

02 March, Rangpo: 130 2nd and 3rd year students of Himalayan Pharmacy Institute here at Majhitar have unrolled their protest strike against the sudden hike in annual fee by the management. The students claims that they were admitted to the institute on the basis of course duration package of 4 years described in the prospectus but unfortunately this year the management of the institution has increased the fees 5 times than it was previously. The sudden bubble burst in the fee structure by the management has posed the student in a trauma now, previously where they paid Rs 25,000 INR according to new slab should be paying Rs 1,25,300, this is exceeded too much said one of the student. Media contacted the principal of Institute over the issue but he declined to state detail over the matter, he said that it is an internal matter and will be resolved internally. Since the institute’s director is our of station meanwhile, tomorrow a meeting will be called to discuss over the matter for finding a solution to it, he said. Nevertheless the issued would be resolved but the student’s sticks to their claim that they were admitted to the institute according to package policy of course period of 4 years and applicable fee structure for that duration was already printed in prospectus.
