425 Sikkimese leave for Delhi to express solidarity with Karmapa
GANGTOK, 01 Feb: A delegation of 425 people, including monks, from Sikkim left today for New Delhi to extend moral support to the team already in New Delhi working for the Karmapa and persevering to register a protest against the speculative reportage by national media [on the Karmapa issue] which was hurting the sentiments of Buddhists all over the world.
This was informed during a press conference convened today by the recently appointed spokesperson of the Karmapa Reception Committee and the Joint Action Committee [for the Karmapa], Thukchuk Lachungpa, today.
Mr. Lachungpa also contended today that the issue of the reincarnation of the Karmapa and the recent issue regarding the recovery of cash from the Gyuto Monastery at Sidhbari were totally different and unrelated issues. “As far as the people are concerned they already have their XVIIth Karmapa in Ogyen Trinley Dorje,” he stated.
He mentioned that the people of Sikkim were unanimous in their support for their spiritual leader, the Karmapa, at this time when he was being hounded by false allegations.
He further maintained that the Karmapa was never directly involved in the financial affairs of the monastery or the Karma Kagyu sect which he heads and that these were maintained by his staff and managers.
He highlighted that the devotees from all around the world made monetary donations to the Karmapa, with several devotees even coming in from mainland China.
He further informed that the Karmapa’s office at Sidhbari had even submitted an application to the central government to regularize the cash donations received by it, but that no response was received to this request. Every detail of the money has been maintained properly, he added.
He also pointed out that except the Chinese Yuans recovered after the raid at Sidhbari Monastery, there is no scrap of evidence to link the Karmapa with China, save his devotees there, who also made these cash donations.
Mr. Lachungpa also reiterated the condemnation of the KRC, JAC and the people at large of the misleading statements and speculations being made by the media at large on this situation.
He reminded people of the massive meeting of Karmapa supporters proposed for 05 February at Old Guards’ Ground at Tathangchen. This meeting, he said, would be a coming together of people in support of the Karmapa and to condemn the media speculations and allegations being leveled at the Karmapa, painting him to be a Chinese spy.

What if it's proved that he is cooperating with the Chinese? Would anything be preferable for his followers than to accept the truth?…
what if I fly over the moon with a sack of rocks? Will it hurt when I hit the ground. Sure. But my doing so is about as likely as HH the Karmapa cooperating with the Chinese I think I will be just fine.

I think this is a plot of congress govt. to take general public views away from its corruption, price rise….. these congress peoples are real cancer for India
I agree. Pretty typical of Indian bureaucracy. What have these governments ever done for the average person in India – not much. HH has been pretty much under house arrest since he arrived there. Many blessings to all the support he receives from all of his followers. Konchok Sumla Chop.
this is unjust to the Tibetan people. We should all leave India, this filty 3rd world country.
It was a terrible mistake to take refuge in india on the part of dalailama. Possibility of three players in here:
1)The other selected karmapa 2) Circle of DalaiLama, 3)China .
Even though ,I doubt the no. 1, but no.2 and 3 is quite strong. Eversince Karmapa set foot in india, India and Tibetan exiled govt set him as a Spy, not allowing free travel abroad and also within india and detaining Karmapa's guru in house arrest with no reason. Why is Karmapa in a different sect monastery and not in his own sect ie. Kagyu lineage all this time(past 10 yrs till now). Why is Dalailamas brother called a chinese spy by the local Tibetan people in India.
My view is Karmapa is not connected to any, but maybe under him are doing some funny business and then the above 3 points.
@Paul, i am sure you are a narrow minded, sectarian person running around stirring up trouble here and there,,who caused all the earlier Karmapa controversy in the first place. What has the Dalai Lama and the exile govt got to do with the present issue? They did not force Karmapa to come to Dharamsala nor to stay in Gyuto monastery. What are you talking about? If Karmapa cannot travel abroad, it is the Indian government! Also keep in mind, the Dalai Lama also was not allowed the travel west till the early 1970s!!! I can understand what u r saying, it is all due to ignorance. IT is people like you who work under Karmapa that is the root cause of all the problems!!!
@mr.john,you r absolutely right that you kind of dork must leave india,earlier than the earliest.is this the pay back for our mother india?your behavior is below our dignity,,india gave u evrything when you had nothing,,,would you like me to make reservation for you to lasha if u cannot afford and if you want to make by yourself please make it early ,,we dont even like to see you nomore(no man's land in no one's land)happy and safe journey!!!see you again,i mean nomore again… goodbye
