CBI is never known to be impartial: SDF

Gangtok, January 12: With the state government determined to curtail CBI from probing Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling’s assets by appointing its own probe panel, Patra commission state Congress president Nar Bahadur Bhandari today branded the move as a desperate attempt to shield Chamling and his corrupt colleagues from being probed. Calling the move as ‘the last nail in the coffin’ Bhandari termed the RK Patra led state appointed enquiry commission as an additional burden for the state people at time when Sikkim is facing fund crisis, with the probe agency has already asked the state chief secretary an approval to invade state for conducting physical enquiry over Chamling and twelve others party men in an SPCC filed FIR some months ago.

“SDF has shown a level of frustration by announcing an independent inquiry commission. But the attempt of ruling party is a useless one as CBI is knocking on Chamling’s door”, he mentioned.

Bhandari further censured recent statements of Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai with the later has stated that CBI is never known to be impartial and thus it makes more inevitable for state government to set up its own agency, Bhandari said that Rai should raise question on CBI doubtful role at Indian Parliament rather than the media.

“SPCC is not going to tolerate such irresponsible comments from the people representative. CBI is above the announced Patra commission and further a national agency. State government should let the CBI to investigate to test its genuineness”, Bhandari tagged.

Speaking in same line, he said that an enquiry commission is formed only after a complaint is lodged which in turn raise necessity for its formation and function.

“Patra commission cannot investigate in SPCC labeled allegations against Chamling and twelve others as the FIR was made to the CBI and not the aforesaid commission. On what complaint the commission would be investigating. Further the state government should mention complainers for the Patra commission to operate”, he questioned.

The SPCC president further indexed that the state chief secretary, TT Dorjee is playing delay tactics in letting the CBI to investigate further in the filed allegations against SDF men.

“I came to know from papers that Dorjee has asked CBI to provide him all the relevant evidences in the present case. The process is an utmost wrong dealing as the CBI is not authorized to place evidences, whatsoever. Moreover, the move was intended to tamper the case”, he supposed.

Bhandari further stated that the central government is also committing a mistake by opting delaying mode in Chamling’s CBI enquiry with he sensed that the state government is buying adequate time to misplace relevant evidences.

“Central party is protecting the unconstitutional and corrupt government at Sikkim. Late in CBI enquiry could result to manipulation in closure reports”, he warned.
