03 Mar, Gangtok:The HGTI, Himalchuli Group of Tourism Industries held its board meeting today to analyse and fore see the future prospective of the tourism industry development in Sikkim which was presided by its Chairman Shri S.K.Bardewa. The meeting delibrated upon the hang gliding episode and its trail experimental flight at Thami Dara which was successfully telecasted over TV by Airrang Channel TV of Korea represented by TAAS on the occasion. The HGTI Chairman congratulated Govt. of Sikkim and the TASS on this successful experimental venture. The meeting however decided to request to the Govt. to revive the existing tourism spots like Rumtek Monastry and insist on heritage tourism like visit to the Old Assembly House which has now been changed into a Museum by the Govt. but hardly any tourists visit the same as it is not covered in tourist map and itineraries as tourists visiting spot.

The meeting deliberated upon the deletion of conventional spots from the tourism publicity brochure such as Botanical Garden without any replacement of similar spots in publicity brochures. The tourism Deptt. do well to take the tourists to Bhanu Park,Gangtok and Geyzing rather than asking them to visit the sewerage tank area or jail without any prior preparation which might result in negative aspect of the tourism in Sikkim.   The meeting felt sorry for not connecting the various festivals for tourism purpose as these festivals like Tashiding Bumchu holy festival can really covet world tourists toward Sikkim if the meaning and importance of the festivals are widely publicised through world TV channel of BBC or CNN.   The central Govt. has raised caution note on the development of tourism in Sikkim so far its expenditures are concerned, The Chairman told the meeting of HGTI members. Mr.Bardewa revealed that road and bridge section remain neglected and therefore SDF govt do well if an effective Project Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation deptt. is geared up under very fearless duty bound officers as that the Govt. may not have to cut a sorry figure.   The PIME Deptt. should monitor the Skywalk project and encourage the Govt. to achieve the target and meet up its colossal investment fund. The meeting ended with thanks to the HCM and tourism deptt. and especially TAAS for worldwide publicity in Tourism matters but the Chairman,Mr.Bardewa expressed his suggestion that the tourism deptt. has finished to identify the real enterprising real entrepreneurs to benefit the core economics of Sikkim for further tourism acceleration and employment generation. The meeting ended with vote of thanks to HCM and Govt. for establishing Chancey Mountaineering institute at Namchi,South Sikkim by Mr.Satish Bardewa,CEO of HGTI at Rumtek Waterfall Resort today on 3/3/2010.
