ACT seeks clarification from CM over Jorethang Maghe Mela speech

19 Feb, Gangtok:This is in regard to the recent statement of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling on a ‘road accident’ during his Maghe Mela speech at Jorethang on 14/01/10. He acknowledged that those who died in that fateful incident were his adversaries.

It is very coincidental that three prominent citizens belonging to our community died in a similar circumstances as described by the Hon’ble Chief Minister in his said speech in which one of the greatest supporter of our  movement against the haphazard mega hydel power projects in Dzongu, the Late Ms, Chukie Tobden also passed away in that fateful incident.
Late Ms Chukie Tobden whom we regarded as the mother of Dzongu and whose contribution to our remote region in terms of ACT’s movement against those mega hydel power projects are simply awesome. Our memories would never shunt away from moments when she was arrested and put behind the bar at the Sadar Police Thana for her gracious role in our movement. She would always smilingly take care of each and every minute difficulty we faced during our historic protest movement. Our posterities shall simply turn their memories of the Late Chukie Topden back with mindful of appreciation, acknowledgment and awe while the descendants of this most illustrious daughter of Sikkim would definitely held their head high for immortal times to come.
It is very dishearting to note that despite condemnations from many quarters of the society, including the members of the ruling party, demanding clarification on his said reference, Hon’ble Chief Minister should maintain stoic silence which is further aggravating the wound amonst the Sikkimese in general and the BL community in particular on the passing away of all the above, at such a time when even their first-year death anniversary prayers is still yet to come.
We, through this Press Release solicits the Hon’ble Chief Minister to kindly put forward his clarification on the matter and provide solace to our BL community in order to dispel the sense of fear-psycho within us it has caused after the said speech of Jorethang Maghe Mela.
We pray that the illustrious Late Chukie Topden takes re-birth in this Ne-Mayal-Lyang (Sikkim) once again in her pursuit to save Sikkim.

    khamree….

    This was needed..
it was very irresponsible of Mr. Chamling to have made such a speech…
that is what an animal should behave like…
but we see that traits in our Chief Minister,…
he must understnd that he is the Chief Minister..
he ,may or may not be elected ..thats upto him..but now being a CM he must be choosy abt his words..
    else face the wrath…

Despite repeated request or demand from NGOs, Social organisations, political parties i/e some members from SDF party, why Mr. Chamling is not replying ? Should we take his silence as reply -”YES” and adversaries were Tashi Topden, TWBarfungpa and Chukie Topden.???
