SMIT in tension again, security tightened

Following the violence of September which was hardly settled down after rigorous homework by the officials of SMIT , similar yet another incident brewed headache for the SMIT authority. On 31 January night a verbal statement between the two north east students turned into forefront dispute. Before the dispute could blaze into uncontrollable height the authority took a measure to destabilize the situation as told in the news. Although the situation came down to normality but the suspense prevails over the campus, said students who refused giving their names.

PM asks Ministers to declare their assets and businesse interests

In one of the landmark decision made by the Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh on 03 February where he wrote a letter to all the Ministers and Chief Ministers asking them to declare their assets and also give up all business interest.
PM in doing so wants to make healthy and fair Governance. Dr Singh has reportedly asked the Union Ministers and Chief Ministers about their assets and liabilities. He also states that the Ministers should not indulge into a business interest where government licence and quota exists.

Biodiversity of Himalayan Ecology

To conseve Himalayan biodiversity,the Ministry of Environment and Forests have notified 6 Biosphere Reserves, 30 National Parks, 112 Wildlife Sanctuaries and 15 Conservation Reserves in the Himalayan Region.
National Biodiversity Authority has been set up in 2003 to conserve the Biodiversity of the Country. Ministry has also released “Governance for Sustaining Himalayan Ecosystem (G-SHE) Guidelines & Best Practices”

Chamling lashes out against ‘anti-people’ elements

Admitting that he has made small mistakes in the past as he is a human being, the SDF chief said that he has been doing people’s work on a larger scale after learning from his small mistakes. He said that ‘some anti-people elements’ are defaming Sikkim by blowing out of proportions the minor issues in the websites. “This is an attempt to malign the image of the Sikkimese people,” he said.
“If the Government is wrong then it must be shown by publishing the name and address by the accuser but it is an attempt to misguide the people by publishing and distributing fake pamphlets,” said Chamling.
