A shortest human in the World is a Nepali

Guinness World Records has verified Khagendra Thapa Magar, Nepal’s shortest man, as the shortest man in the world after verifying his height and weight, China’s Xinhua news agency reported, citing a local daily on Saturday.
According to The Himalayan Times daily, Thapa Magar was awarded a certificate to this effect in Rome Friday night.
According to Min Bahadur Rana, chairman, Khagendra Thapa Magar Foundation, 17-year-old Khagendra was awarded the Guinness certificate and a medal Friday night.
According to the Guinness verification team, Khagendra is 56 cm tall and weighs just 5 kg.

SSB Jawan nabbed in West Sikkim

Sashastra Seema Bal SSB, a jawan was arrested by the police in Uttarey, West Sikkim for his illicit behaviour towards a 28 years old women. Women lodged a complaint against Balram Ray, a jawan of SSB following which police took no chance to arrest the culprit. A women was allegedly raped taking an advantage of loneliness in a nearby jungle, a women went to jungle to collect a fodder, as told in a report. All necessary procedure is being followed by the police in this regard and necessary investigation is on the way, said in the report.

Bengal assures Sikkim of smooth traffic – Flout groups to face action for blockades

Bengal chief secretary Asok Mohan Chakrabarti today assured the Sikkim government that no stones would be left unturned to keep NH31A open at all times under instruction from the Supreme Court.
The national highway is the only arterial route linking the Himalayan state to the rest of the country.
“We assure you that we will try our level best so that the directive issued by the Supreme Court to keep NH31A open is followed. Any group that flouts the order will face legal action and everybody has to cooperate with the order of the apex court,” Chakrabarti told The Telegraph during the tea break in the three-hour session with Sikkim chief secretary T.T. Dorji and senior officials at Chintan Bhavan today.

Fire safety education and disaster risk awareness programme

The Inspector General of Police Mr. Akshay Sachdeva and his team from Sikkim Fire and Emergency Service visited the school and had a very educative and interactive session .Many informative questions were put up both to the students and the faculty members. The whole programme started with the introduction of the rank holders .The practical demonstration was made so that at the time of disaster we remember the right way of handling the fire fighting equipments.

Three bills introduced in the House

On the first day of the Assembly session three bills were introduced in the House by the Chief Minister, Mr.Pawan Chamling who is also the Minister-in-charge of Home Department, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. D.N.Takarpa, respectively. The three bills are the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, Bill No.1 of 2010, the Sikkim Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Members of Sikkim Legislative Assembly (Salaries and allowances) Amendment Bill, Bill No 3 of 2010 and the Sikkim Legislative Assembly Members (Payment of Pension) Amendment Bill, Bill No.4 of 2010.

PCS transforms into entertainment joint for Journalists

During the Janta Mela held in Sichey on February 17, Chamling had said that some journalists from Assam, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri were trying to defame Sikkim through derogatory news reports. He had called upon the people the people to fight back against those ‘anti-social’ elements. Reacting to Chamling’s comments, the PCS met and resolved to submit a memorandum to the state governor in condemnation. Later on February 21, another meeting of the PCS decided to seek consent from at least fifty percent of its members for the task.
