Gangtok, December 21: The dissident leader of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and Advisor of party Bhoj Raj Rai, former MLA of Jorethang lambasted the chief minister and party supremo Pawan Chamling’s divide and rule policy in Sikkim .

Addressing a social gathering at Rolu, South Sikkim , 12 kilometrers away from Melli, Rai confronted the party’s principle and policies while ignoring protection of Sikkim and Sikkimese interest at large.

Countering allegations made by the chief minister in recently concluded winter session of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Rai demanded that the goons be booked if any openly operating to destabilise and create disharmony in Sikkim . Questioning the chief minister’s remarks and credibility he said that Chamling himself being in-charge of Home department failed to arrest such goons having free hold in the state. He further said Chamling rather resorted to terror than to allay a brewing dissidence within the party ranks.

Citing his reasons for a need to change the party leadership reforms its policies, Rai said that the common and collective objectives of early nineties is no more practiced and has become one man party, sideling the party cadres and collective decisions of the party.

“We are totally against ‘Hero Worship’ prevalent in the party” he said.

“We need political change, upholding cadre based party and want to usher a new era of politics involving youths, women and educated ones from the civil society of Sikkim to transform present political scenario to a national level.

He threatened the anti-people and anti-democratic forces and said ‘eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth’ policy would be followed if such situation arises.

Criticising the functioning of the present government led by Pawan Chamling, Rai vociferously said that Chamling is not only corrupted financially but also ideologically.  He advised Chamling that his days are gone and is better if he quits the post before he is ousted.
