GANGTOK, November 18: The new executive committee of All Sikkim Post Graduate Teacher Association (ASPGTA) was formed in a meeting held on November 15 with Chiran Rizai of Enchey Senior Secondary School as its president.
Palden Sherpa of Deorali Senior Secondary School, BD Adhikari of Ranka Senior Secondary School and Upendra Rai of Tashiding Senior Secondary School were nominated advisors to the committee.
Other executive members include TB Guragain (Chujachen Sr Sec School) as vice president, Karma Bhutia (West Point Sr Sec School) as general secretary, Sarad Poudyal (Deorali Sr. Sec. School), Rinzing Bhutia (Ranipool Sr. Sec. School), Sonam Ongchen Bhutia (Sang Sr. Sec. School) and Saroja Pradhan (Samdong Sr. Sec. School) as joint secretaries, Shekhar Nath Gautam (Ranka Sr. Sec. School), Hissey Rinzing Bhutia (Phodong Sr. Sec. School), Narayan Chettri (Soreng Sr. Sec. School) and BL Tamang (Sadam Sr. Sec. School) as coordinators, Hem Sagar Kafley (Enchey Sr. Sec. School) and Arjun Nepal (Ungdok Sr. Sec. School) as publicity secretaries and Deepak Sharma (Dikling Sr Sec. School) and Kunzang Bhutia (Ranipool Sr. Sec. Schooi) as treasurers.
A press release adds that ASPGTA was formed in 2007 to create a common platform for all the post graduate teachers of Sikkim to work for the betterment of teaching learning processes and to bring in quality education among the students of Sikkim.
The Association, the release informs is also aimed at working for the welfare of students of Sikkim in terms of quality education, to conduct career counselling to the students of secondary and senior secondary level going for higher education, creation of welfare funds and its utilisation and to felicitate the CBSE toppers from government schools in Sikkim among other important objectives like working towards curtailing drop out rates and helping the needy children pursue their education.
According to the release, the newly constituted executive body will also be working for the registration of the Association along with other activities like membership drive and conducting election.
At the same time, the ASPGTA members thanked the Chief Minister on the recent announcement in pay scale revision.

Sikkim’s Teacher student ratio is highest in the country therefore transfer excess teacher of Gangtok sorrounding who are wives and relatives of politicians and officers in remote coner where there is shortage of teacher. 5. Teach Sikkim history in Schools.
