Gangtok, November 17: In a clear indication of brewing discontent in the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) ranks, a former ruling party MLA Bhoj Raj Rai today criticized the Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling for his dictatorial style of functioning and said that a new political party under the leadership of a top dissident leader and four-term MLA PS Tamang will soon be formed to present a viable political alternative in Sikkim.
“Chamling has become a dictator who no longer trusts his party and ministerial colleagues and takes all decisions of the ruling party and the government on his own leading to the marginalization of all important leaders who had stood by him for all these years since the founding of the SDF in 1992 and its election to power in 1994,” he told reporters at the State Legislator’s Hostel here.
The situation in the ruling SDF has come to such a passé that there was no forum in the party where the senior leaders can air their views or question the undemocratic and dictatorial style of functioning of the Chief Minister which has left them with no option other than to float another political outfit, Rai, a two-term formerMLA from Jorethang assembly constituency, said.
The disgruntled SDF leader, once a close confidant of Chamling, cited the marginalization of the senior leader Tamang as an example of the Chief Minister’s mistrust against his senior colleagues and said that he was not included in the Council of Ministers in the fourth-term of the Chamling government simply because the latter perceived him as a challenger to his job.
Tamang has not only been dumped from the government and inner circle of the Chief Minister, but the entire official machinery has been let loose against him to finish him politically, Rai claimed.
Reminding Chamling of his own marginalization by the then Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari in early 1990s and ouster from the Sikkim Sangram Parishad (SSP) government for rebelling against Bhandari, the former SDF legislator said that the former has committed the same mistake by hounding Tamang out of the political scene in Sikkim as of the day and will pay the same price as was the case with his predecessor in 1994.
On the time-frame of the formation of the new political party under the leadership of Tamang, Rai said that the new political party will come into being soon.
He, however, also did not rule out the disgruntled SDF leaders aligning with a national political party and said that unlike in the past the present generation of people in Sikkim were not averse to the national parties.
On the fate of the SDF dissident leaders after their outburst against the party supreme, Rai dared Chamling to expel them from the party and said that such leaders will in any case quit on their own at an opportune time to form a new political outfit.
Meanwhile, a SDF spokesman brushed aside the allegations by the dissident leaders against the party and its leadership and said that there was no rebellion against the leadership of Chamling.
“There is no truth in the charges leveled by Rai against the Chief Minister,” the spokesman said.
The dissident leader Tamang, said to be the nucleus of a political alternative in Sikkim, too was not available to comment on the issues raised by Rai.

whatever Bhojraj said is absolutely correct. 100% ..,, but should we trust him also? won’t he ditch everybody, after all , their issue is personal and not in sikkimese interest . Let them come out with some solid issue in the interest of sikkimese since there are many burning issues., and let Goley speak for himself .
Its all about the money…the seniors are not getting their share of the big pie rigth now…which of course they wre used to….its a fight for power not a fight for th people.
WHY NOT SDF PARTY TAKE ACTION AGAINST BHOJRAJ AND GOLEY. ONE IS IN MEMBER ,ADVISORY BOARD AND ANOTHER IS VICE PRESIDENT (TRIBAL AFFAIRS) and both are CEC members of SDF.
Mr.Guru.. has correctly pointed … a party formed due to some personal issue .. may not be the change that sikkimese want…. .. it should be based on some genuine issue …. i agree that golay was very popular in his former constituency … but i dont think that he has made great impact in other areas……
in my view … rather than forming a new party… national party can be the best options .. we already have enough regional parties…….
as i hail from Mr. Bhojraj’s ex constituency… i too know that not only golay bhojraj is also victim of chamling’s dictator like rule…. and he too is quite famous in his constituency…. watever it is …. the combination of golay and bhojraj looks powerful … provided they play with brains….

my idea about this issue is that if MR . GOLAY joins CONGRESS ,,it would be better for him…forming a new party.he is going to end up like DR. AD SUBBA..no funds…no support..atleast if MR.GOLAY joins CONGRESS he can have the support of the Congress mandate..and i feel we should nt underestimate the popularity of Congress in Sikkim…MR BHANDARI has worked a lot in making Congress a success in Sikkim..

Golay Bhojraj Chamling or Bhandari – Sikkim will be the same as all these are wretched power hungry politicians. They will stick to the chair and will go as far as possible to hold on!

I cant believe this article. I mean really??? First of all a dictator is a person who supresses the people’s rights, loots them, creates unfair laws, etc. I dont see that happening in Sikkim, but the contrary. A leader of a party has made a change, isnt that what leaders do. If, say, Obama or Sonia made a change in their administration then, according to Mr.Bhojraj Rai, they should be called dictators. If Mr.Bhojraj Rai were to be a competent politician then he would have more to talk about rather than simply mouthing off and lowering himself in the process instead.
Although Bhojraj is not an MLA but staying illegally in MLA hostel for last ten years free of cost in Chamling’s mercy and still doing press conferance against Chamling from the same place. Is he not acting under Chamling’s order and fooling Goley and innocent jantas.

Guru… needs to give some space to himself by being a little more patient with this unfolding drama in the political scenerio of our state. Change– we must always welcome. No harm in taking a little more time in reading the intentions of these latest flag bearers instead of jumping into conclusions of all sorts right away. Its perhaps only the initial period of a movement being born here and we cant expect them to come out with their full political manifesto right away for obvious reasons. You will agree with me that,for them its just the begening and they’ve got a long way to go from here on.Rather Opinion Makers, Thinkers, Academicians, Visionaries, Sesoned Politicians like Guru himself and many others above should start planning as to how they could be a part of this development and mould these leaders to suit our TIME.

thank you Bhojraj sir for your love towards me … i too respect u a lot.. as i remember those days wen u were our beloved MLA(although i was in school)…. sir those were just my views regarding the matter … and i am no way inclined towards politics as of now.. lots and lots of pending dreams to fulfill… not just mine but … of our village too(urs and mine ..)….and ya sir i am doing good here … and my studies going well… in final years now… just 2 years to be medical graduate ……

Primula and her mom played negotiating role and finally received huge amount before leaving to Dubai by bandhari. …give & take took place on 21st. OCT. at 5PM in Sinclair hotel ,Silliguri. .. any one can verify…., before this event Primula was called at Mintokgang and what happened will be disclosed by Bhojey group in the days to come very soon. ….Bandhari will not be presurised in two convicted cases from Govt. and now on no words against Chamling from Bandhari …. there are many other deals….to disclose in future….

Had been reading from the top to the bottom, and did find a lot of similarity and the differences, some like it, some dont… but what I am concerned is whoever be there tomorrow … Is Sikkim Safe? from the clutches of Politicians. Infact could anyone even name a politician who would be suited to lead Sikkim.
As regards to Mr. Chamling and his tenure, well I had no complaints until the time I saw and realized that he has brought change, with much of destruction, to the very nature that we were brought up with. I see the government selling our rivers, rocks and in the process baffling us in their big far sighted dreams of Self Sufficiency…. Well I would like to ask ? Were we not Sufficient before? Infact what is happening to Sikkim is like someone slowly cutting and slicing away our land, in the name of developement.
But what development are we talking about when:
1. there are loads and loads of Unemployment (rising daily)
2. Influx from the outside into our very own land, where we (Sikkimese) would soon be in total minority.
3. When the Government has treated its employees with only verbal assurance about getting the highest pay in the whole of India (Makes me laugh!!!!)
4. Finding that all the works/Projects are being carried out by many of their own kin, blood, with our un -employed youths still looking around for jobs.
well I could go on and on… but then ….Why waste energy?
I sincerely feel that we (Sikkim People) are toooooo cute and sweet where we dont have the guts to come out and challange and ask for our Rights
All in all whatever happens and whoever comes to Power ! I just would like to wish and pray that it is that person who would look into the future of sikkim, and keep Sikkim like what it was before…PURE and TRUE.
Presently the situation of poltics in the sikkim state is nill, it’s what you call democarcy..??as far as to revive the poltics of sikkim is concern , Golay must formed the new party and should resign the OLD SDF party, because for the betterment for the benefit for the masses of the sikkimese people, considering the present unemployment scenario of sikkim which approx,35000, these problem would be solve by only one person which Mr.Goly. he is the rigth leader for the youth, beacuse the SDF has fail to provide employment to our local youths and the common man of sikkim has been fooled by this corrupt SDF party,
The SDF party is only for the OLD Polictican and Chamcha.

2)What about the senoir minister of SDF who have occupied the seat for last 15 years, still occupying the seat of vaious portfolio,
now what about the youth of sikkim , given by the SDF party , important portfolio is captured by this old man and old ministers , for the name sake the youth of sikkim in the party is given such as , vice-convener,block level youth president,chelli morcha secretary, vice secretary not even General Seceratry, nothing really changes for the youth, they need suppport only when the election is nearby, to look for the long future for the youth of sikkim this SDF pary is not for the youth , its for this old and (hungry for the seat), when we see the quality of our ministers and MLA recenlty elected majority of them are mere puppet , they are not the dynamic leader.
For the development of youth the SDF party is encourging the Capacity buliding which in real sense is not working at all.skill development such as
1) bee keeping
2)Pig farming
3)one month journalism course
4)one month toursit guide course
and many others, but when the real business and opportunity is concern they are deprived, the concrete step is not taken for the youth , this just the negeligence for the youth.considering all the facts the future for the youth of sikkim in the SDF party is totally nill beacause we have realise the fact for the last 15 years, so for the rigth direction , the dynamic leader for the youth of sikkim would be only one person i.e. Mr.P.S.Golay.

Do ..u.. know..Goley has coruption case in sikkim high court ???? ..another wangdi & subba are there as judges…,!!,. you know how Sikkim H.Court functions ?? remote control is in Chamling’s hand.., Goley is keeping quite…do you expect any changes when 31 MLAs and all VIP light-wala including technocrates and burocrates are all happy with corruptions. ???, Governor is also happy and there as a museum piece …!!!!. what can we expect.
The only sensible talk is from the new party SNPP. At least they are talking about the main problems of Sikkim like influx etc. But peoople would rather talk about Golay because they are scared of Him. Do we need a leader we are scared of? People were scared of Bhandari because he was a dictator and would physically assault his detractors, people are scared of Chamling because he has whole villages destroyed when they dont vote for him, and now Golay? People were scared of him when he was minister because of his “Youths” who always acted like a private army.What do you think will happen when he becomes CM? When will Sikkim elect a leader out of respect for the qualities he has and not due to fear?? True democracy can only come when real issues are voted upon and there seem to be only party talking about that!

hi ………………… my only comment is that every one had a politice in sikkim, some did politice in the name of cast, some in the name of region, some in the name of riligion, but i did not see any one doing politice for the people who had no food to eat, not shelter,
rapid privatization is distroing a social welfare, privatization in education is curtailing the labour class people to send there children in school, universities are been made a place for investment.
universities are been sold to birla and ambani. i could not make my brothers and sons doctor tommorow because i have no money. this are the problems.RICHER ARE BECOMING RICHER AND POORER ARE BECOMING POORER AND POORER.
Whether its SDF, Congress or any other parties in the state which comes into power…I would like to make the youth aware that without a steady opposition we all r the loosers at the end of the day..In the present chamling govt the youth have been totally misled…The power of the youth as a positive change in the society has been drastically degenarating..Everything is done through muscle power and money power…Our competence in any field has been replaced by favouritism and bribery…Though the govt is providing various financial schemes for the masses..At the end of the day its the SDF supportrs who eats the cream..not the ones who really need it…Well the commoners do not evn get the leftovers..lolz….So where is our democracy…???I am not for or against any political party but i still believe we need a good opposition in sikkim to check these malpractices…cheeers!!!
