Sikkim’s lone delegate to the UN’s Regional Cartographic Conference
10 Nov, Eastern Panorama: A research paper on GIS based landslide study of Sikkim has been selected for presentation at the 18th Regional Cartographic Conference to be held at Bangkok. Sikkim’s LP Sharma, who has been invited by the United Nations with full sponsorship to represent India. This will be the only research paper from India featuring in the conference and Mr. Sharma the only scientist participating in the event from India. This is also the first time that any research paper from Sikkim is selected for presentation at a forum like the United Nations. Mr. Sharma has also designed, developed and implemented a number of software applications for the district administration.
His technical paper on Sikkim Land Record computerization was adjudged the best technical paper award during the 4th International Conference on e-governance in 2006 held at IIT Delhi.
