Dissidence in SDF? Burtuk MLA throws gauntlet at Chamling to expel him from party - In pIC PS Goley
Gangtok, November 4: The dissidence in the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) spearheaded by the senior leader PS Tamang may enter into a decisive endgame soon after the latter gave a miss to the protocol by not receiving in person the Vice-President Hamid Ansari during his visit to various places in Burtuk assembly constituency last week to leave the Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling visibly embarrassed.
Tamang’s deliberate decision to give a go by to the protocol by absenting himself from the state functions at Lingdum Monastery, Cultural Village and Ban Jhakri Falls , all falling under his new assembly constituency, was a calculated plan to embarrass the Chief Minister personally, the sources close to the rebel SDF leader told Himalayan Mirror.
The senior MLA, who is having a turbulent relation with Chamling ever since he was denied a ministerial berth in the Council of Ministers earlier this year.
A fuming Tamang gave back in kind by boycotting the inaugural session of the state assembly and abstained himself from the house when he was supposed to second a motion of thanks to the Governor’s speech.
Chamling retaliated by re-opening the Vigilance case registered against his party colleague in connection with misappropriation of public funds in purchase of livestocks and a chargesheet was filed against Tamang and others later.
The Chief Minister also reportedly instructed various government departments to not entertain his former minister’s recommendations for giving various benefits to his supporters and the people from his constituency.
Tamang, who is said to have maintained a political fiefdom of his own in spite of serving under the commands of Chamling for over a decade and half years, has since gone underground with an apparent game plan to build a public support for himself to emerge a stronger political force at a later date.
The Chief Minister has, however, not left the dissident leader a free bird as various arms of the state government like policemen in plaincloth, intelligence officials and henchmen have been following the activities of the latter from close quarters and reporting the same to the ‘mighty’ leader.
Chamling is also keeping a close watch on the activities of some of ministers, MLAs, ex-MLAs and other leaders who may or may have designs to collude with Tamang to weaken the SDF and the state government, according to political commentators.
Though the Chief Minister has never made a comment on the ongoing dissidence activities in his party, he is reported to have dossiers prepared about the corruption and criminal activities of all those party leaders who have seek to challenge his authority or to unseat him from power.
With most of the intra-party strife being played underground to keep the general public and the media out of the purview of the ‘cat-and-mouse’ game between Tamang and Chamling, it is expected that the battle may soon be played on the ground soon with either the dissident leader walking out of the party or the SDF President finally losing patience with his colleague to expel him from the party.
Amid reports that Tamang has sent feelers to the Congress leadership in New Delhi to volunteer his service to bring down the Chamling government, the SDF President must tread carefully to beat down his challenger.

I will rejoice when this corrupt calculative and criminal chamling falls.He has made us believe that poets cannot be trusted anymore.He has divided the nepali community in Sikkim and I am sure he will be shown the exit door of Sikkim politics.The most corrupt CM of Sikkim must be put behind bars!

The very idea of “Garib” or poor people’s leader has started to haunt chamling now. History has never witnessed the cunning & corrupt leader like Chamling ..till date. in order to overcome the complexes that he has owing to his limited education or illitracy, he showered himself with the title of Dr.(honoris causa) – everybody knows..how.?.. tried to be a vivid reader of different philosophies, theories & flauted the ideas of Singapore, America & European nations in his speeches where the general public had no option but to listen. Became HERO by default. When he imposed his idea of ORGANIC farming to the public ,his wife ok business savvy wife was busy in FLORICULTURE where their PESTICIDES made way from Siliguri to the destination without any hinderance. this resulted in the BLACK MARKETTING of the pesticides for agriculture in entire state. wont take much time if anybody desires to know that who is doing all this. the kind of business acumen the families of Chamling has would definately put all these products of Business Schools or IIMs in shame. Their balance sheet or turnover will put TATA or MITTALS at the bottoms. Thay earns profit whatever they do.. wherever they do… They are the enterpreneurs , hoteliers , Floriculturist, Contractors, .. they may put families of BIRLA to ponder or even take some kind of tutorials from these people. But its all “BLOOD MONEY”– its POOR PEOPLE’S DREAM.. which Chamling has accumulated.. till date. we the people of Hill, we have strong attachment to the nature, we are nature worshipers.. we believe in things like KARMA… he cannot bargain our life with those “TUNNELS” of Power projects that he has allowed without realising the consequences. Green isn’t the color here we are talking about but its metaphor to pollution free or eco friendly. First and foremost all we need is the GREEN in the thought of Pawan Chamling….
