
Himalayan black bear enters Gangtok
03 Nov, Gangtok: Wild Bear entered into town outskirt creating a maul atmosphere among the public. The official sources said that the bear could have come from the distant forest wandering in search for vegetation. Just a few days back a man was badly hurt by a wild bear in his house in West Sikkim while he was feeding a fodder to his piglets.Forest officials of Gangtok is monitoring the entire situation to make bear turn hostile by darting with tranquilizers. Two person were badly hurt by yesterday’s bear attack, immediate medical supervision was provided for the victims. Bear was sighted sighted by lady out her house who ran inside and informed her husband. Pema Zangmo Bhutia, the lady also informed that since past few days people of the locality was continously seeing this bear. The immediate response was called on to dither bear from being nasty and start creating a panic. 20 forest officials alogn with teh Sikkim Police team cordoned the area where bear was ambushed, 4 dart shots were fired earlier to stabilize closer range which missed a target. After hitting 10 shots the bear slowly became unconscious. At around 1:30 PM the rescue team nabbed the bear, officials sources said that bear is now at Himalayan Zoological Park .
“During the winter wild animals continuously roam around in search for food, that is what has made this situation said the forest dept experts”.
